Gledhow Valley Allotments
Gledhow Valley Allotments are the largest site in Leeds and have been in existence since the 1st World War.
The site is autonomous but is owned by Leeds City Council to whom we pay rent.
The constitution of the association can be found here (updated 2018 AGM)
Gledhow Valley Allotments are located between Harrogate Road and Gledhow Valley Road in Chapel Allerton, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
There are 129 plots on the site some of which are half or even quarter plots due to changing demographics.
Once you have the allotmenting bug and feel the benefits at half the price of a gym membership and taste your own personally grown veg, you can always put your name down for a larger plot if you outgrow your plot.
There are 164 plot holders with a waiting list of about 37 (as of July 2019).
Tea/Coffee and award winning flapjack is served all year 10.30am - 12.30pm, Sunday. All proceeds go back in to allotment funds. This is a good place to get advice (wanted or unwanted) and general socialising.
Existing Plotholders - extra plots.
Existing plotholders may request additional land or a change of plot. This is subject to certain conditions, for example, the existing plot must be in a good condition. This process is at the discretion of lettings secretary/committee. There is an application form to fill in which should be available at DC/from lettings secretary. It is also available to download here
There is a maximum of 1 full plot per plotholder.
As agreed at the 2018 AGM we have a new written Grievance procedure. We try and deal with any grievances informally and mostly they can be resolved in this way. However there may be occasions where we need to follow this formal procedure. (Click on title)
As agreed by first committee meeting of 2019 we have a new Bullying and Harassment Policy. (Click on title)
