36th SUMMER SHOW

To be held on Saturday 7 July 2007 at

the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Allerton

STAGING:                             11.30 am to 1.30 pm

JUDGING                              1.30 pm  to 3.00 pm

SHOW OPEN:                      3.00 pm to 4.00 pm

SALE OF PRODUCE:        4.15 pm

Please note:  there are NO ENTRY FEES for this Show but ANY EXHIBIT can be reserved on payment of 20p

SPECIAL NOTICE

Where a category is marked thus *B - ALL entries must be displayed in a suitable Bikini Vase.  

These are available in the Hall - on free loan for the period of the Show.

SCHEDULE OF CLASSES

HOME CRAFT

1          Gooseberry Pie 6” to 8” diameter

2          Sponge Cake with jam filling (approx 6” dia.)

3          Three Round Sultana Scones

4                    Chocolate cake with buttercream filling (approx 7” dia.)

5                    Three jam tarts

6                    A photograph of horticultural interest – reserved free

CHILDREN’S CLASSES (under 13) (Exhibitors age to be shown on entry card)

7                    An edible Monster

8          Own grown cress – grown in a small margarine tub

9          A picture of my garden – drawn or painted

FLORAL ART

10        Table arrangement – not exceeding 18” x 18” x 18”

MEMBERS’ FLOWER CLASSES

11        A gentleman’s buttonhole

12        One Pot Plant - Flowering (excluding fuchsias)           Reserved free

13        One Pot Plant - Foliage

14        One Cactus or Succulent

15        One Fuchsia

16        One dish of  6/8 Pansies and/or Violas

17        One Vase of five Pinks and/or Dianthus

18 *B   Vase of five stems of Sweet Peas

19        Spray of Flowering Shrub

20 *B Vase of Mixed Perennials

21        Vase of Flowers of any one genus

22 *B   Spray of Roses

23 *B   Three Hybrid Tea Roses

24 *B   Specimen Rose - a single bloom, undressed and unwired(to be judged on its merit as a garden rose)

MEMBERS’ VEGETABLE CLASSES

30                Display of salad vegetables – at least three kinds

31                Three Potatoes of any variety

32        Six Pods of Peas

33        Six Pods of Broad Beans

34        Six Radishes with tops on

35        One lettuce with root on

36        One bunch of eight Salad Onions, with roots

37        One Cabbage (any variety) – root trimmed to 3”

38        One Cauliflower – root trimmed to 3”

39        Three Sticks of Rhubarb

40                Any Vegetable not in Schedule (to be named)

41                A pot of mixed herbs – at lest three kinds

42                One bulb or garlic

MEMBERS’ FRUIT CLASSES

43        Dish of 12 Strawberries with stalks on

44        Dish of 12 Gooseberries with stalks on

45        Dish of 12 Raspberries with stalks on

46        Dish of 6 Traces of Blackcurrant

47                Dish of 6 Traces of Redcurrant

48                Dish of any other Soft Fruit (to be named)

 

SHOW RULES

1          In Members’ classes, all exhibits must have been grown by the Exhibitor.

2          Any Exhibitor may take only one prize per Class but entries are unlimited.

3          The Judge’s decision on merit shall be final and they reserve the right to withhold any prize and/or award in the event of lack of merit.

4          No exhibit to be removed before 4.00pm

5          All unreserved exhibits, or exhibits which are reserved but not removed by 4.15 pm will be sold for Association funds.

6          Exhibitors must provide their own vases for those classes

            where vases are not provided but the Committee cannot accept responsbility for loss or damage thereto.

7          Any protest or objection made IN WRITING will be considered by the Committee but their decision on this or any other matter pertaining to the Show shall be final.

8          Prize monies not collected on the afternoon of the Show will be repaid into funds.

            The making of an entry by an Exhibitor is deemed to be an acceptance of these rules.
